Sorouh's Lulu Island project Is Changing the Definition of Island Living
This current project under development, Sorouh’s Lulu Island will now change the definition of Island living to a great extent. Just imagine living on an island featuring fantastic Gulf views and Abu Dhabi skyline. This Lulu Island project is completely packed with world class amenities and it proves to be a great mixed-use residential development including leisure shops and entertainment. Sorouh Real estate is hoping to create this beautiful residential area within the community closely located to the Abu Dhabi Corniche.
The island comprises of 15 neighbourhoods spreading across an area of 4.73 million m². Gurjit Singh, the Sorouh's chief executive officer said: “This can be achieved by balancing land use, resource consumption and infrastructure investment to create a healthy, vibrant and sustainable community that also acts to enhance the natural environment.” This island is developed by Sorouh in collaboration with the Abu Dhabi government. The space is so designed which balances urban spaces with public areas.
This project of Lulu Island is an essential part of the extended urban plan. Singh said: “We recognize that Lulu Island has an important role to play — to become a new district in Abu Dhabi. That's something which the Urban Planning Council (UPC) here is very keen to see as well. So we are working very closely with the UPC to ensure the master plan of the island is in alignment with Plan 2030.”
Lulu Island will come out to be a completely self sustained community including schools, large open spaces, retail environment and 5Km of beaches. Singh further added: “We want to ensure there is differentiation in each of those parcels, which is based on the characteristics of the existing conditions of the island, the natural environment, the topography, access to the beach and the views. If you look at the residential components, there will be a series of community and civic facilities within those neighborhoods so that people can live self-sufficiently.”
